In between these courses she may serve in many ways, usually under the vigilance of the master, who enjoys watching her; in the interstices of her more obvious intimacies she may cook, launder, sew, embroider, arrange flowers, prepare Bazi tea, play the kalika, dance, model tunics and chains, and so on. And of course she may be used in her intimacies, in so far as her entire life is not in its way an intimacy, in a variety of situations, places, positions and ties.
