The whip, of course, is a symbol of the mastery, and its discipline, and authority. In kissing it, and licking it, deferentially, lingeringly, she expresses her understanding of it, and what it stands for. There can be no mistaking such things. Too, she knows full well that it can be used upon her, and liberally, at the master's whim. She hopes it will not be; she wishes to be found pleasing, and fears that she may not be so found; and so, fearfully, reverentially, hopefully, even trustfully, she addresses the whip, in this lovely ritual of acknowledging her nature, and his, and her rightful subservience. - (Kajira of Gor)
