On Earth the male sues for the favor of the female, and hopes eventually to receive some surcease, some assuagement, of his needs, doubtless doled out, bit by bit, if she wishes, in minims or grams, so to speak, at her pleasure, and perhaps in a way deliberately, even callously, calculated to achieve her own ends.
