Some people undoubtedly were, she thought, and she had learned, in the last few days, that she was one of them. She was thrilled to address this word to him, and, too, to other males. She had learned, incidentally, that she must address all free men as 'Master' and all free women, though she had not yet encountered one on this world, as 'Mistress'. She was uneasy at the thought of free women. How would they regard her, she only a slave?
