The circle is the geometrical form containing the most area for its perimeter. On continental Gor temporary camps are usually laid out in squares, moated and palisaded if possible, with blockhouses at the corners and two gates, and a reticulation of straight streets, in terms of which the units are ordered. As nearly as I could determine the Yamada camp was divided into several flaring areas, rather as a series of spokes in a wheel might divide intervening surfaces.
