Indeed, on the continent, it can be a capital offense for a slave to don the garments of a free woman. The free woman would not stand for it, and free men would not permit it. They enjoy seeing slaves clad as slaves. As the slaves are owned, why should men not have them clad as they wish, clad for the pleasure and delectation of men?
