Now and then a fellow would stop to peruse the goods, sometimes with a friend. They might then share views, and comment on the goods. Interestingly, there is a sort of culture of a market, and different markets have different cultures, so to speak. If they are permitted to speak, on the shelf, or, more significantly, in the holding areas, a social hierarchy soon materializes, with leaders, and, say, subordinates, lieutenants, so to speak, followed by followers in their rankings, and then followers with their followers, and so on, and then, eventually, drudges, nondescripts, nonentities, outcasts, and such.
