My anticipation of its utility had motivated my current position vis-à-vis the Dorna. The point of the parry is not to directly block a blow but to move it from its course, to cause it to deviate. If we were to interpose the hull of Tesephone directly between her and the attacker we would save the Dorna but only at the expense of the Tesephone.
