The master, entitled to, and receiving all he could want from the slave, and with the ultimate, clear power to see that he gets it, and more, is likely to be well content. The slave strives to avoid the whip, but is thrilled to know that she is subject to it. Sometimes, however, she may beg to be tied and whipped, for this reassures her that she is still of interest to, and important to, the master.
